Hi everyone, I will be posting my son's clubfoot photos in CFPics

today sometime.

I adopted my son from Xinjiang Province in NW China near Russia

border on 12-06-04. He was born with bilateral clubfoot and is now

corrected via the Ponseti method. I am a member of a yahoo group for

Xinjiang families; this is a group of American families who have

adopted children from the Xinjiang Province of China. One day I

received a post from Maunu , Medical Director of " Love

Without Boundaries " (LWB) ( you can check out their website ) ; they

are an organization that assists special needs children in China to

receive surgeries, etc. ; it is basically a medical missions group

of volunteers. I am going to post her email to me below.

My question is would any families be willing to send me before an

after photos of your children. I really probably only need one child

set of before and after photos to put in this handbook. I do not

have any good photos of my son BEFORE treatment. So that is why I

need some help.

Subject: For those who have adopted " special needs " children

Hi Everyone,

One of LWB's projects for 2006 is to compile and translate a

teaching manual

for orphanage staff on medical special needs. This book will explain

each

special need in a very simple and basic way, with lots of photos and

helpful

information, as well as an encouragement that the majority of

children with

special needs are highly adoptable. Each section of the book will be

reviewed by a medical specialist for that particular need both here

and in

China. One of our main goals for this project is for more orphanages

to

submit children with special needs, and we believe this book can help

orphanage staff know how wanted and adoptable these children are. We

believe it can also provide some helpful information on day to day

care of

the kids, such as the need for sunscreen for children with albinism.

I am writing today because we will need volunteers for this project.

We

would like to create a committee to help us compile this book. You

all are

intimately knowledgeable about your children and have so much

information to

share. If you would like to help us, please let me know. We have

started

brainstorming on the master list of special needs and would love to

have

your ideas.

We will be traveling to China in January and would like to have a few

completed sections done soon to show officials. The sections we are

working

on first are on albinism, microtia, and port wine birthmarks. If you

would

like to help us write one of these sections, submit a photo of your

child

for the manual, or share your doctor's information with us so that

they can

help us review the information we gather, please let us know.

Thank you in advance for your help. We really believe that this

manual can

benefit so many special needs children.
