I had my gall bladder out in 1998. ly, I would undergo any type of

surgery as little as possible. It was an ok surgery but with my drug

complications (nausea, rashes and so on) it wasn't fun.

Also, the gall bladder attacks that went undiagnosed for 2 years were

incredibly painful increasing in frequency and intensity until I got really

sick with nausea constantly and started dropping weight. The gall bladder

attacks for me felt like someone was sticking a knife in the middle of my

back (about bra strap height) and twisting the knife back and forth. It

would wake me up in the middle of the night and I would sit there sweating

with the pain until narcotic pain meds would kick in to help at least dull

the pain. NOT FUN.

I thought my back was going out like a slipped disk or something. I had no

idea it was my gall bladder. I do have some lovely stones left over after

surgery. My doc gave them to me. LOL

So, knowing what I know and if I had the choice I would have the gall

bladder out if possible. Also the appendix if possible.

I had my appendix out when I had a total hysterectomy oopherectomy. You

talk about major abdominal surgery. ICK Also they found that I had

probably had several (5-7) appendix attacks because there were lesions all

over my intestines from the appendix where it had leaked during attacks.

They figure I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I don't think so but I

will take their word for it.
