Guest guest
Thanks, Regina. Boy, do I ever need a new PCP. I went in yesterday, SPECIFICALLY requesting a referral to a gastroenterologist. I am currently looking for a new PCP in our HMO. The problem is, most of the docs in our area that will take new patients are DO's, and I'd prefer an MD. And there has been a huge upset in our system, with Integris (the provider for Pacificare here) taking over, doctors leaving, new ones coming in, and a current list of doctors doesn't seem to be available. Six months ago, the clinic my doctor is at had 12 doctors. Now there are 3. I'm VERY frustrated right now. I'm about ready to start going to the ER every time I get sick. Think that will get their attention? Nah. They'll probably just label me as a hypochondriac, over-reactive nut. I've been called worse. <VBG> Jac Amateurs built the ark. Re: Reflux Problems Jac: You might consider getting a new PCP and gastro docs. If you have had H-pylori twice in the past year, it may have not been totally eradicated and can be the cause of your reflux problems Also, if you've lost your teeth and have constant burning, the reflux can lead to other problems such as Barrett's Esophagus. Try and find better docs in regards to this who aren't just telling you that you shouldn't be feeling this way. Point is, you are. In regards to the prescription for Protonix. If it works and you are feeling better. Your doctors can write a letter of medical necessity to the insurance company stating that you have tried various other medications over the past year with no success and the Protonix has been the only one that has made any clinical difference in your symptoms. The insurance company will usually ok the prescription without an argument. I hope this information helps and that you are feeling better soon. Enjoy your short vacation. Sounds like a dream.
