You cannot get honest answers anywhere. There is always the threat of

lawsuits if they tell you it is okay and you happen to be one of those

susceptible

to ulcers.

Well, if Ecotrin is supposed to dissolve in the intestine, maybe you

should try to find out if it would still dissolve in a shortened

intestine...IOW, is it the time frame when it dissolves or something

in the intestines that aids dissolution?

I also believe that not everyone will develop an ulcer from Nsaids,

but it is a big risk, and if you're left with no choice but to take

them, with or without Tagamet, Zantac or whatever, at the first sign

of pain or heartburn, get yourself scoped. But, I agree, a choice

between a possible ulcer or a heart attack waiting to happen? No

contest!

Hopefully, if you can call the manufacturer, you might get a semi-

honest answer.

> Hi,

> I recently was started on Niaspan a triglyceride lowering drug due

to hypertriglyceridemia, a half hour before I take the med I am to

take an Aspirin, ( Baby aspirin or reguar, my " choice " ) the doctor

says I am a heart attack waiting to happen and NEED both these drugs,

my question is what about coated aspirin such as Ecotrin? can " we "

take that safely? It is suppose to dissolve in the intestine instead

of the gastric pouch. Also, a few other docs have told me its OK to

take NSAIDS as long as you take something like Tagamet or Zantac with

it, I am not saying its OK just saying what I have heard and of

course these docs are Ortho docs so they may not be familiar with "

our " situations. I am really scared to take most drugs but some of

us have to for medical reasons. Hope all had a festive Independance

day.
