New to the group.....a few questions???

Hi, My name is . My husband and I brought home our daughter, , from

Taiwan about 1 month ago. She will be 8 months on July 26th. She has

plagiocephaly. When I took her to her pediatrician, he was not concerned at all,

but I would constantly noticing the flattening on one side of the head with a

slight protrusion of the forehead. I never really noticed, but after my good

friend, who is a pediatric P.T. met her, she noticed she has a very mild

Torticolis, which on top of position is probably the cause. Anyways, I decided

to get another opinion. My brother-in-law specializes in orthotics and

prosthetics. We live in Fresno,California and he works for Hanger. However, he

does not specialize in this area. Anyways, I met with his colleague who does

specialize in this and he said that has a mild case and after measuring

her she has about a 6mm difference which is right at the cut off. They do not do

the band in his office only the helmet. So a week after his consult, I decided I

definitely wanted to do this. When I was there, he pointed out how her ears are

a little offset.....I just kept noticing this and realized I needed to do what I

could to make her little head perfect, even though many others cant even notice.

....... I went back this past Wednesday and he scanned her head, he also repeated

measurements. He noticed that she had already increased in size. Since we got

her home, her appetite is up and she is really growing fast. We will be doing

the helmet not the band.....Does anyone have experience with the helmet. He is

the only one in the Valley who does this so I imagine that he is good. He said

that the helmet should be ready by Monday. I have no idea how long it will take.

Since I am new to the group, do any of you know of other cases where they start

at 8 months of age and if they correct very well. What about complications, I

was not told of any, should I be concerned about any. He did tell me that he

could not gaurantee full correction or gaurantee that her ears will ever fully

align. I will try to post a picture of her. Sorry this is so long, hopefully I

am making since. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
