Well, yes and no. I add some zinc at night, plus more folic acid with

my son's DMG, and Calcium & magnesium Of course, these are minerals).

It depends also on the child's needs. So yes, the multi is a good

choice, but always look at what the child needs, if he may be more

deficient of certain things, otherwise just the SNT is fine, I believe

..

Some give extra vit C and A (CLO). I think it is a personal choice,

maybe other will advise better since I am not doing this.

Do you mean Poly-Vi-flor or is it what you typed? If you mean

poly-vi-flor, well they were GFCF as of 17 1/2 months ago but have no

idea now.

I am not sure of chewable, however there is a site called vita4life

that sells vitamins specifically for bariatric surgery patients. The

vitamins contain all the vitamins and calcium for ust to maintain our

health. You may want to check them out.

www.vita4life.com

I buy my vitamins at a healthfood store and I just make sure they are

in capsule form.

<Does anyone have their insurance pay for the ADEKs?

My insurance company (Guardian/HealthNet POS) refused to pay for the

ADEKs because they are not a prescription medication, even

though " prescribed " because necessary. I ordered mine through CF

Foundation. I paid $13 a bottle but just heard from a friend that

they now charge $20 bottle. I can buy them from my local pharmacy

for $23 a bottle.

,

LJ (my son) only takes a basic vitamin and has been GFCF for 19 1/2

months so far and all is fine. He gets complete blood work done at the

peds. office and everything is fine. His eating habits are great though

and he eats a VAST variety of foods, so I am sure all he needs is being

met with the foods he consumes with his meals. I don't give anything

other then a multi-vit.

Hi Jazz,

If you are pre op just take them as you would normally. It isn't until you have surgery that you have to worry about the higher doses of vitamins. Any multivitamin is ok. Before surgery I just got the multivitamins that Kaiser sold and took those until surgery.

Hi Wanda

Ozzie bear has a good description of what vitamins she is taking. Feel

free to read the rest of the thread and you will see in the middle of

the post is a list.

Hi ther Jazz - yes you can start your vits before your surgery and in

fact it is suggested. Have you had your orientation yet? If you have,

everything is listed in your binder. If you haven't yet gone you can

start on MultiVits and Calcium. Before surgery I took 2 chewable

Centrums and 4 ExStr. Tums daily. It is a good habit to get into as

early as you can because you will need to take your vits forever. I

hope this helps. I'll check my binder when I get home and see if ther

is something else you should be taking BEFORE surgery.
