Guest guest
I am post op (a few years) I had blood tests etc done as I thouht my diabetes had returned but nope, all came back excellent. Do any of the POST OPS have this happen.... after my small meals it is like my blood sugar bottoms out and i am sooo sleepy that I can end up taking a nap or just being SO sleepy for an hour or two. (I do not snack other than trying some protein to see if I can jump start my blood sugar when it is really really bad ocass) if this happens to you post op....what works for you? B Yahoo! Guest guest
Bee I only eat 3 meals a day, no snacking. If I do 75% protein or all protein I'm fine. If I have some salad first and don't get enough protein because I still eat only about 4 to 5 oz meals, the I get the sleepy feeling. I know it's protein first, but if I'm out and the salad comes first sometimes when the protein comes I'm full and I don't get enough. Then I'm so tired. I don't eat out often and I really do my protein first. I don't and never have done protein shakes, I just stick to my meals of protein. I do see where a shake may add a bust, but I don't want to add anything, I am 14 months post op, made it to goal at 5 months, and been maintaining my 138 pounds ever since 5 months, not wanting to change anything. Not sure this will help, just what happens to me. Take care. Guest guest
B, this has happened to me as well but it has happened with eating protein like Chicken. All I found that helped was to sleep and you said it right. I am out for about two to three hours. I am one of those that do 3 protein shakes a day and one meal...sometimes there is no meal because with the water and protein drinks, I am full. So far, I have maintained without any gain and I am a year and five months. I never was a eater and before surgery or thinking about the surgery, I used to drink protein or some sort of diet drink or protein bar or diet bar because I rather drink than eat. I suppose it is because I am a very picky eater and so drinking the protein works for me because I get bored pretty quick with the food I eat. My labs all come back great so I am not worried. Life is good so I can't complain. Take care.
