I am now 13 days post op open ds. I was dischaged from the hospital 3 days post of with severe diarrhea and of course was readmitted the next night with dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea and severe fluid retention. Ended up staying another 4 days in the hospital for IV antibiotics and lasix. I am feeling really good now. Just trying to get in the protein, and fluids. I'll post more when I feel up to sitting at the computer. >> Hey, Sharon in KY: So glad to hear you are home safe and sound! What a bummer about being re-admitted with severe dehydration/diahhrea, etc. but I'm glad to hear you are feeling good now. Guest guest
Thanks Donna It was a really amazing and emotional trip. When my parents divorced my mom just suddenly said we were going to California. I had to leave everything and everyone I had grown up with. I lost my extended family, was taken far from my dad and everything I knew. Going back was the best thing I have ever done. I got to catch up on all my cousins, we were all so close. I cried seeing my old home, school, my aunts house, my grandparent's graves,my sister and of course my dad. I have seen him maybe 5 times in the last 25 years. When I went back for my brother's funeral in 2001 I promised myself I would go back while everyone was still alive and enjoy my time with them. I did not want my next visit to be for another funeral. My dad in 69 and not in the greatest health. My step mother's breast cancer is back and I went to radiation with her daily. She starts chemo again as soon as the radiation treatments end. I cried so hard when we had to come home, I realized I may not see my Aunt Donna again, she is not doing well either or my dad. It was a very theraputic trip and Im so glad I went. Guest guest
: Geez, it would be great to see you. Lunch might be difficult, however, how about dinner? Maybe after the marathon is over we could go to dinner one Friday evening in the Castro and then go DANCING to work off dinner. I can guarantee there will be lots of eye candy! (When it gets hot in the dance club I like to go to, the guys start taking off their sweaty shirts... yowza yowza yowza!) I know it'll be like " water water everywhere but not a drop to drink " but heck, it would still be fun! Last Friday, I took my longest friend (a straight woman, a dear friend from college many eons ago) to go dancing in the Castro, and we had a blast! We danced for 4 hours straight, and the next day, she said she was sore, like after a good workout. I was amazed to find that I was not sore at all. I guess the marathon training keeps me dance-fever ready. Let's plan it! Francisco > > HI Francisco > > Ready to do lunch! >
Guest guest
Sounds like our trips were similar, I haven't seen many of my family due to my ex's mental health, he couldn't go and never wanted me to leave him, so me being co-dependent to him wanting him to be okay never saw many of my family in many years. I went to Colorado to one of my sisters, also saw her one son, his wife and 2 children and found out while I was there she is having another after losing a few, so that was wonderful. My sister is 62 and has health issues and we just never know. It was a wonderful trip also and Colorado is so beautiful. Glad you had such a wonderful time. I plan on trying to start getting to see all my family that is left, I have lost 3 step sisters to cancer, I have 2 step sisters, 2 real sisters and 4 real brothers, which 4 are in different states. So after my dad's funeral I have made it a point and my step sisters and me have become real close they just live in Antioch. Two of my brothers are close one right in town, but he's the bad apple so I see him and love him, but can't be to close because of his problems addictions. The other one I've seen a few times now since dad's funeral, he's in Sacramento and we really enjoy each others company, but next year they will move alot future away. So I will see him all I can before they move. I will go see a brother in Oregon by next year, he is 64 and I haven't seen him in 25 years. Then a sister in Arizona and a brother in Texas, I have seen when they come to visit my mom, but I need to try to go to their places at least once. So now that I'm taking care of my needs and enjoying life I sure have some catching up and living to do. I am so happy for you, and the great trip, and as far as the weight gain, you're home and get back to basics and exercise and get it off and you will be fine. Take care.
