Guest guest
My personal experience from my brother getting my dad's grandfather's name was that he hated it as her grew up because he got teased by the other kids in school. It is Atilano. So he was called Atila the Hun amongst other names. My nephew who was named after my dad ino didn't want to use it because he would say, " What do I look like my grandfather?". I do think names are so very important that you really do have to be careful what you name your child because it can affect them emotionally. That is just my two cents. Guest guest
Mariela is very pretty, I'll add it to my list. We don't know the sex yet...but he wants a girl. We're using his name, as we plan to be "legitimate' before bambina/o comes. His last name is Guillot (Like Guillaume meets a glass of Merlot.) So far, our top contender (this changes everyday, I might add...) Sophie andra Guillot or Sophia Camille Guillot And for a boy: Dashiell andre Guillot (Dash, for short). My great uncle is Dashiell Hammett, and his deceased father is andre. But, as I said, the girl names change all of the time. But we both are pretty settled on the boy's name. What do you think, is Dash too weird? I did read a study that said boys with unusual names tended to have more mental problems....manisodream wrote: Robynn:Do you know the baby's sex yet? I'm sure you want a name that is not cacophonous but melodic, right? And God forbid it be a name like Anita Legge.FranciscoP.S. François/Françoise is also catchy too! Guest guest
Congratulations Robin! My two cents on names is that I wanted to keep my heritage (Hawaiian) in my son's name without him one - being the kid whose first name didnt fit on the roll sheet and two - without him being teased relentlessly, so I gave him a traditional american first name and a Hawaiian middle name Leialoha Rojas A few years ago I was preganant and lost the baby, but the names we picked were Shaien (pronounced like Cheyenne) Noelani for a girl and Keawe (kay-ah-vay) for a boy Just another way to keep the family names without the "trama" they may cause. Guest guest
Unusual? Hmmm, my daughter's name is Halia and my son's name is Travon. I don't think they seem much like axe murderers yet, but they ARE young. Laurie __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Barbara, I'm Native American (my dad is half ee, my mother is 1/4 Cherokee). loves that, and had been trying to get me to do a Native Name. The problem is that the ones that can be pronounced easily are either used too often, and not among Indians...or they don't float my boat. He was wanting Cheyenne, which is pretty, and has an interesting origin...but unfortunately, my former husband's parents had a dog named Cheyenne, his sister had a Sierra and a Shiloh (dogs), and my mother had a Savannah. So, basically, all of the Indian names I like have been usurped by dogs! Argh. --- " Hokoana, Barbara " wrote: > Congratulations Robin! Guest guest
Yeah, I know. I wonder if it was Dashiell? It's the first Dash I've come across...but I've wanted to use that name for a long time. Of course, do I really want him to be like his great great uncle? I mean, sure the famous writer part would be great...but the kid will be born with a martini in each hand!!! Guest guest
I LOVE Sophie/Sophia. Elegant. Accomplished. Refined. Confident. Yet fun. Equally at home in a ball gown or at a ball game. I think Dash is the coolest name I've heard in a while. Dash Guillot, yikes, it's like it's the name of an actor or a model or at the least, a successful international banker. Or even " Dash Guillot " international man of mystery. Also, can you imagine him as the high school student body president? Capitan of the football team? Prom king? Dash fits it all. He's gonna be a popular! Lucky kid! Listen to me go on and on... he he he. Francisco > > > > > Robynn, > > > It is a part of the pregnancy being tired.
