Guest guest
Bradley says maybe 20 verifiable words. But he knows exactly what I am saying at all times. his main words are mama, dada, baby, up, baba, ok, all done, and his newest word as of this evening is GOBBLE GOBBLE!!.. why couldnt he say drink or juice or even truck, no it had to be gobble gobble..it is so frustrating. his speech therepist says he is at a 8 monhts old speach and she hasnt seen him since the tubes, but before she said his comprehension was at 7 months old, i ask him to put something in the trash he runs right to do it. almost anything you ask him he does it, but he has issues here, hes been throwing major temper tamtrums from being frustrated, im having a hard time reading his mind like i used to and it frustrates him, cause i dont know what he wants. ANy advise is appreciated, hes doing ok in daycare, althoug the teachers are concerned he is only playing with girls now. LOL, he is such a flirt. Guest guest
Paige, Have you tried sign language? We use it in school along with saying the words and it really helps our kids. I don't know a lot of signs, but the STs do and I try to learn from them. I'm surprised your speech therapist has not suggested this. Bradley can communicate with his hands while his verbal language develops and catches up. Jodi Z P.S. You can teach yourself sign language. There are many books and websites that teach you how. Guest guest
Hi Paige I recently heard about an Autistic child who had the same frustration because he could not say what he wanted, and would also throw temper tantrums. So to stop this problem his mother put up pictures of all his favorite things ex: on the fridge she would put up milk, jam, peanut butter, bread etc.. so if he wanted a sandwich he would run to the fridge and take the picture of the bread, peanut butter and jam and give it to his mom and that ment he wanted a sandwich. He would also have pictures of his favorite toys so if he wanted his elmo and couldn't find it he would get his elmo picture give it to someone and they would find his elmo. His mother has these pictures all over the house and takes most with her when she goes out places this has totaly stopped all temper tantrums!! hope this helps....Chantal 21 RSS
