Guest guest
Hi, Sorry I didn't see your name. I don't think your problem is related to RSS. I have not heard of such problem being caused by or aggravated by RSS. RSS can play a role in ear infections but not jaw pain. At least I am not aware of that. However, I have heard of similar problems to yours. They are usually caused by or related to the jaw joint. I think it is called TMJ ( Temporal Mandibular Joint ). You may need to go to an orthodonist who specializes in TMJ. I think they could be the ones to deal with problem of your jaw hurting & locking when you open it too wide or too long. I would also suggest you discuss your pain with your regular doctor. If the medication he prescribed isn't working, then you might have to insist of another medication. You might want to check the web site www. healthfinder.gov It is a good place to start to get info about various medical problems. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi, Sory I misspelled the words for TMJ. The corect spelling is Temporomandibular Joint Also, here is a web site with more info on TMJ. http:// www.nidcr.nih.gov/HealthInformation/OralHealthInformationIndex/TMDTMJ/ TMD.htm I hope this helps. Guest guest
HI. just an idea... Ironically enough, what you just described is exactly what my stepmother described to me a couple of months ago. She had severe pain and was on antibiotics a few times, nothing helped. She went from doctor to doctor and finally one discovered she had such a severe ear infection that it had spread into her jaw and affected her there (she did not have severe ear pain.just mouth and jaw). They were looking in all the wrong places for the cause of her pain. The basic antibiotics did not work so she was put on some super strong antibiotic and antiinflamitory meds ( I don't know the name) and it finally got rid of it...after 6 weeks of agony. It also could be TMJ. I do not have RSS but I have suffered from TMJ for 11 years...beginning shortly after my wisdom teeth were pulled and my jaw was propped wide open. It causes swelling and locking and you have to push on the joint to pop the jaw back open, very painful but a good orthodontist can help. Good luck to you! mom of Autumn RSS 10 1/2 mos 13 lbs 14 oz 25 1/2 inches > > Hello- > I am new here in this site and would just like to extend a warm > welcome to other adults and children with RSS. Guest guest
Sorry, I wrote something wrong..I just went back and read the e mails from my stepmother and she did have extreme ear pain along with the mouth and jaw. Like I said, the infection was so deep and severe, basic antibiotics just didn't help. > > > > Hello- > > I am new here in this site and would just like to extend a warm > > welcome to other adults and children with RSS. Guest guest
Hi , Have the doctors taken a pnarex x-ray ? Are they sure it is not an ear infection? Guest guest
Dear , I saw the Doctor on Friday and have been very busy at college. He stated that I have TMJ, or tempromandibular jaw syndrome. He gave me a Prevacid NapracPac 500 to take. I feel much better although I still have a slight twinge now and again I feel 85% better. Thank you for the advice, yes, I have had an xray. Have a great night. Guest guest
Hi Cindyloowho, Glad you're feeling better. Lucky guess on my part. Also, glad you went to a doctor. I only recognize your symptoms because my wife went through the exact same thing. Her TMJ problems were related to stress. She found that yoga and meditation helped. Good luck in school and please keep us posted.
