One last post tonight....

I know that sippy cups are not advised for our kiddos, but I think I

want to try a straw cup. Can anyone give me a suggestion on what to

use for Dalia? She is 1 year old and loves her bottle. Or should I

not risk ruining a good thing with the bottle?

asymmetry)

Hi,

I missed the part where sippy cups were bad, vaguely remember it but

not why!

Anyway, EMerence transitioned to the AVENT sippy cups first with the

super soft spout (they have 2 spouts - beginner and older kids) and

now either drinks from an open cup (usually just at dinner) or the

Playtex with straws or the disposable cups with a straw (Safety First

makes them maybe). The disposable ones seem easier to get liquid

from as well.

Sheryl,

When Coby was a year old I wanted to take the bottle from him, but my

gene said no way. That as long as he was eating well that way not to

bother him. Unfortunately, I took his twin sisters bottle so I felt

that I needed to treat him the same " age " . I started both twins on

cups a month or so before they turned 1. They each got a cup once or

twice a day at least to get them started on them. I tested him for

about a week on the cup. He was drinking just as many ozs of formula

from the cup as he was from the bottle, so I took the bottles and

they have never been seen again. After 4 kids, I honestly believe

that it was that easy to break them from the bottle because they were

young. My oldest we waited until about 18 months and it was a night

mare. I would talk with your docs and listen to their opinions as

well.

As for cups, I love Playtex. They don't spill and they last

forever. They had out a sippy cup that would fit in a cup holder.

The top was bigger then the bottom. That always worked great for

Coby's little hands. I also use Gerber. They have a bigger cup and

I can poor the milk in it and still have room for the carnation

instant powder so I can mix it right in the cup. As for cups with

straws I use Munchkins. They are the only straw cups that truly

don't spill. You can hold them upside down and nothing comes out. I

love that. I don't have to worry about leaks on furniture or cloths

or in my car. I tried the advent cups but neither of my kids would

take them. If it's a possibility I would go out and buy several

different kinds. Try them and see which Dalia likes best and which

is the easiest for you to clean. Those are the two most important

things.
