Ght effects-Japanese study

Debby,

I believe that the study is not considered to be valid because those

Japanese children were given gh as a result of lack of growth due to

chemo. They already had cancer, so the likelihood of those children

developing another form of cancer was greater. The pharma.

companies have to report the possibility, however, so they do, but

little weight is given to the " risk. "

The same was told to us my Dr. geneticist and dwarfism

specialist at AI Dupont. Dr. is not a proponent of GH, he deals

mostly with skeletal dysplasia where GH is not an option anyway. We

took our daughter to him for possible diagnosis (she is yet

undiagnosed short stature, not just SGA). Even though he did not seem

too enthusiastic about GH (but correctly advised us to talk to an

endocrinologist instead) he did mention cancer effect of GH is now

disregarded because the Japan study was done on children who whose

growth was stunted due to chemotherapy.
