Guest guest
Ann, I have to say Deb is right about not just stopping the mirapex. You need to cut back alittle at a time and not cold turkey. When you use Mirapex it's mostly to cut back on how much sinemet you use. Why don't you call his talked and ask him about it. I call Fred's all the time to ask can I or what do you think. Take Care Vera

Guest guest
Deborah: You are right that usually you stop something like Mirapex slowly under the care of your Neurologist, but your note reminded me of the time our Neurologist made Ken come off the Comtan in a hurry. He had had diarrhea for a week, and we couldn't stop it. His Neurologist said, " Stop the Comtan and stop it now. " I asked if it could do this after several months and she said it could and to stop it immediately. Of course we did, and Ken got better, but his movement got worse, so after a few weeks, I put him back on without telling the doctor. When the Diarrhea did not return, I confessed to the doctor who just shrugged and said Ken must have had an infection of some sort. Guest guest
Ann, Please be careful in stopping his Mirapex. You need to do this under the guide of a neurologist. If you can think back to when he started it, the neuro usually has the patient take a very small, sub-therapeutic dose and work up to a dose that works. The same is true when stopping it. He needs to be slowly weaned off of it... even if he is having problems from it or he may have withdrawal symptoms worse than the ones you experienced while on it. Please call his neuro for advice.
