Guest guest
le, It's a sad fact that commercial infant formulas are highly fabricated foods, composed of milk or soy powders that are produced at high temperature which denature proteins and add many carcinogens. Milk-based formulas often cause allergies while soy- based formulas contain growth inhibitors and phytates that block mineral absorption. I would stay away from these and take the time to make your own formula; you will have a much healthier infant. I will give you the ingredients for the formulas, but suggest that you read a book called Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon that I found a couple years ago on another web-site. It explains everything and it will open your eyes to the poor quality of commercial formulas. The formulas I made are as close to the components of real human breast milk as you can find. MILK BASED FORMULA 2 cups raw organic milk or piima milk not homogenized ¼ cup whey 4 tbsp. lactose 2 tbsp. good quality cream (not ultrapasteurized) 1 tsp. cod liver oil 1 tsp. unrefined sunflower oil 1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil 2 tsp. coconut oil 2 tsp. brewer's yeast 2 tsp. gelatin 1 ¾ cup filtered water 1 100mg tablet vitamin C, crushed MILK FREE FORMULA 3 ½ cups homemade broth (beef, chicken, lamb, fish) 2 ounces organic liver, cut into small pieces 5 tbsp. lactose ¼ cup whey 1 tbsp. coconut oil 1 tsp. cod liver oil 1 tsp. unrefined sunflower oil 2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil 1 100mg tablet Vitamin C, crushed Read the book on the specifics as to how to prepare and as to where you can buy some of the difficult to find ingredients. Above all, do not microwave, it kills all the good stuff. Jean
