MAGIC Convention 05: It's Going to Be Absolutely Fabulous!

Hi Everyone,

I took a quick look and didn't notice if Jen had posted yet, so just

wanted to let you know that she has begun the final process of

finalizing our MAGIC Convention Agenda. I know some of you have

asked about it. Let me tell you that we feel Convention 05 is going

to be the most awesome one yet! For those of you unfamiliar to the

convention, the flow goes something like this: (Also, I highly

recommend you read the past newsletters, which gives a very detailed

summary of what went on at Convention 04. If you're not yet a member

of MAGIC, join and you'll get the newsletter!). Keep in mind that

the following is a rough draft. The final agenda will be out in

early spring.

Wednesday--> Dr. H. begins seeing children ( signs up

families in the Spring---early sign up is essential!)

Thursday--> The convention officially starts. FAmilies arrive. The

hotel lobbby is filled with kids. There will be dozens of exhibtors.

The children get lots of fun freebies. This year we will also have

some introductory talks such as Stats 101 and Endocrine Basics 101!

And, of course, the free dental consultations. And, Dr. H. continues

to see children!

Friday and Saturday--> We are so excited to have 3, three!!!, world

renowned speakers on RSS/SGA. Of course, Dr. H. will be back to talk

about her approach to helping RSS kids grow. She'll also discuss the

hot topic of puberty and adrenarche. We also have Dr.

Czernichow from Paris, France who talk about implications of SGA into

adulthood. And, that's not all: Dr. Chernausek will go over

a topic so many of us care about: The bottom line on the

effectiveness and statistics of GH THerapy! There will also be

moderated discussions on issues RSS parents face with teenagers, with

children in pre-puberty as well as some moderated groups for the kids

themselves!!! Dr. H. will also be talking about Gut motility issues,

and we will have someone go over the transision from tube to oral

feedings.

And this is just the RSS/SGA division! Each of the other divisions

will also have wonderful presentations. Add to this the Friday and

Saturday night parties and dinners for all the families, the amazing

pool at the hotel, the daycare for the younger children, etc. and you

will find that these 4 days will be one of the most worthwhile

experiences your family has had. In 4 days, you will learn and

experience things that many RSS/SGA parents, who never learned about

MAGIC (unfortunately) spend years and $$$ on via trips to doctors all

over the place, frustrating misinformation, etc. just to get the

state of the art info.

Jen and I are so thrilled with the early planning. We'll be sending

out more details in a few months, but I wanted to wet your appetites!
