We found that you have to do something to protect yourself both the patient

and the caregiver to be able to keep your sanity. It is hard being there

day in/out wondering is this the day. This was the only time in the 46

years that we were together that we had to even think that way. I am sure

that others with other major illnesses also have to face that issue.

Sometimes humor or withdrawal is the only thing that keeps you from crying

all the time.
