Guest guest
Thanks for saying that, Jodi. We all make tough decisions every day and we come to this forum to share information without being judged. My husband and I spent many months researching GH and balancing different information before we started our daughter, Abby, on GH. The information coming out now on pharmatheutical companies is no surprise. The concerns have been out there for years. Our decision to start GH had nothing at all to do with the pharmatheutcal companies, but their support and assistance in getting started on it were invaluable. Sure, they had their own reasons for doing it. How does that make the benefit to my family any less? Guest guest
Jodi, I joined this list several weeks ago to find a new endocrinologist because I wasn't comfortable with our current one. During this time I have read many opinions and judgments, and yes even frequent lobbying promoting their doctor. Perhaps I have used misjudgment, and maybe this an issue that should be ignored. But is growth over good health the best measurement of treatment? In my decision making process, I searched the list and found that there seems to be a distinctively different philosophy in the way some of the doctors use drugs. In the case of one child I was able to identify at least 31 drugs that he had taken over the years of treatment which appears to have resulted in many complications. This is indicative of one of the many problems when dealing with drug company priorities; for the most part in their clinical testing they do not review the interaction of drugs, especially a large number. After watching PBS's segment last night on the drug industry and the gross lack of over site by the FDA regarding the issues I have brought to everyone's attention, it only solidifies in my mind as to the course of action I plan on taking. I have gathered the information that I need for making my decision, and I respectfully ask that the moderator to please remove me from this list. Thanks and the best of luck to all in whatever treatment mode pursued. Jill Let's tread carefullly on the subject, my fellow listserve members. We have been down this road before and it has caused many hurt feelings and complications. I am not saying that we should not listen to what we have to say to each other, but we must also respect the decisions of each other and the routes that we decide to take. We have been affected by other who-will-remain-unnamed people and it has caused major rifts among us. Please bare in mind that this is a sharing community, with the right to voice an opinion, but not judge what we decide to do for our own children. I agree that some of the meds are scary, but we all try to make informed decisions and do what we feel is right for what we believe in. This is a support group - not a lobby. Guest guest
Jill, I'm sorry you feel you have to leave the group. As I said, we all share info and appreciate hearing new things. It's a shame that when things got a little heated, you backed down. I would have liked to have heard a bit more and learned from you as I hope you would learn from us.
