Guest guest
I have been a member of this group since approximately 1999 when my husband was diagnosed with MSA. I was frantically searching for all the information I could gather on this disease. This group has been a source of solace and information. I was the caregiver for my husband until he passed away on 5/24/2002. He was 64 years old. My husband also would forget that he couldn't walk and there were a few times he had fallen when I went outdoors. One time he crawled back to his chair and was sitting in it with a big knot on his forehead! The last couple of months of his life, he was admitted to a Hospice home where he received excellent care. He was immobile and barely able to feed himself, yet his mind was very clear and his attitude was one of dignity and grace. He never complained. His disease progression followed the pattern that I have seen on many of the groups' messages: orthostatic hypotension, failure of muscle coordination and balance, slurred speech and writing difficulties, urinary problems, blurred vision. I still check the messages this group sends and I can relate to what the caregivers and patients are going through. Take one day at a time and keep each day precious with memories of your loved ones.
