Guest guest
What kind of pain meds is Anne taking? When my sister was on high dosages of morphine, the surgeon responsible for her feeding tube told us that high dosages of morphine can really affect the bowels/intestines and in fact almost paralyze them. That was a major problem for at that time. That is the primary reason she was changed to Dilauded (sp??) and then in turn had the pain pump placed directly in the spine. She had a bariumdesert and it took over six hours to pass her system. Not sure yet what that means, but the doctors didn't seem to be happy. We will have the results after the weekend. Catether is removed and she feels to pee every hour. That's good. She will learn to hold up later. Enteral feeding is not enough, she is only able to digest a third of what she should. A central line will be brought in again after the weekend. Thanks for your support and listening ear when I needed it. Guest guest
At the moment she is on paracetamol and she is hardly in any pain now. She takes them only when the enteral feeding runs to quickly. Anne had morphinetype drug to kill the pain in the beginning and that paralyzed her bowels indeed.
