Guest guest
Hi everyone, I need some info (again) about car seats. My son is doing very well with his periactin and growth hormone. He is now 7 1/2, 45 inches tall and 41.2 lbs. Does he still need to be in a car seat? If so, what kind? Thanks Ken M
Guest guest
Ken, Every state has some different rules. We are in NY. My non RSS twin, (age 4 3/4, 40 pounds, 40 inches) is out of her carseat and in a booster. By NY law, she is not required to be in anything anymore, but I won't let her loose in the car. As for , at 30 pounds and 36 inches, he is still in a car seat, but I will be moving him to a booster soon. Oh man, if that was the case, if I lived in NJ, I would've been in a booster seat until I was about 25! <wink> -Sharon- Orlando FL Just an RSS kid who grew up (in Staten Island) 38Y, 4'6.75 " , about 96#
Guest guest
I live in NY and they did just change the law to 80 lbs . I am not sure but will find out I think the same thing tori is 5 and weighs 30 lbs she will be in a booster seat for ever even to see over the stearing wheel when she stars to drive haha. Car Seats All this talk about car seats made me think of another question. How many of you live in states that have laws stating that a child should be in a booster seat until he/she is 80 lbs? I know this is a recommendation for all states, but it is not a law in my state (FL). Here is the child restraint law for FL: All children 5 years of age or younger must be properly restrained no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used. (FL Statute 316.613). is almost 12, going into middle school next year, and weighs 55 lbs. At the rate he is going, he might be 20 before he is 80 lbs. - lol! It would be ridiculous for me to drive him to middle school in a booster seat! What are the laws in regards to driving through other states? We have gone on a few road trips before, but I never thought about this. has probably been out of a car/booster seat since he was 6 or 7 years old. We are going on a road trip through several states in a few weeks. Can I be stopped & asked why he is not in a booster seat? Can I get a ticket? Kim C.
