Guest guest
Hi Everyone, To those of you asking how the remarks about butter got started ? About a year and 1/2 ago we got to talking about food and recipes on here. Some of the names of recipes that came up were Elephant ears, beaver tails , etc, etc. Then someone started talking about brownies. Well Aussie Annie #1 asked what brownies were because she had never heard of them. So we all started putting in recipes for them. The one that I put in called for a cube of butter. So Bill let me know that butter is a stick and started to tell me what a cube was. So of course that started a debate going on what butter is called. This went on for week's & week's . It ended up were Aussie Annie #1 had someone make all of the brownie recipes and the had a contest of which one was the best. The recipe with the cube of butter won. So I've been rubbing it in ) ever since. It's just good friends having fun. Take Care Vera *********************** Have been watching the remarks about butter and could not resist. I don't know how this got started either. I have churned butter and it was put in a dish and was just butter. Then came WWII and no butter to be had unless you churned your own, so Oleo. Remember the bags with the bubble of coloring. You broke the bubble and mixed the oleo in the bag and then put it in a dish. Then came along margarine. cannot remember its shape when it first came out but I think it always came in sticks. Four to a pound. The only " butter " I saw for years was in a 1 pound piece. I have seen receipes that call for a stick of butter or margarine but never a cube of butter/margarine. So I will have to side with the cookbook and call it sticks unless of course it is in a tub.
