Guest guest
My daughter had tubes placed when she was 11 months old due to flat tympanograms, indicating fluid in her ears. She was so small that for about 9 months we could not even see in her ears and had to wait for her to grow large enough for the surgery. Claire also has a hearing loss, so for us tubes were extremely important. I don't know if has bad reflux. For Claire this contributed to fluid in her ears. When she refluxes it comes up into her nasal passages and into her ears, because she has severe silent reflux the fluid does not get a chance to drain and a pool of fluid in the middle ear is a breeding ground for bacteria. Claire's audiologist has seen a number of children like Claire where reflux results in fluid which results in tubes.
