Guest guest
, Of course you want to enjoy the prime of life. You'd be nuts if you didn't want to. However, I would caution you, before you drop SCD even if you plan for it just to be for " that year " , to think about how you were before. How do you really think you would get along eating any old stuff? Do you really think you have some reason to believe you could get away with it and not be sick all the time you were trying to take that SCD vacation? Mightn't you be able on the other hand to stick to the diet, and Imuran or whatever, and get a bunch better and then do that travelling and in much better shape? Perhaps able to cheat a little? You would still be in the prime of life I am sure but with your gut a lot better. It IS hard. We are all pulling for you, but it does require patience, patience... I know SCD is a good thing, even if I have to be on meds. The issue here is that i'm in the prime of my life, and I want to enjoy it while I can. I want to see the world, have fun, and travel all over. Experience life while I can run around and settle down later. Even if it's for a year, then sit back and cook again. Guest guest
I'm not in your shoes, as I am older than you, but I do understand about wanting to enjoy your youth. I see SCD as the way we are meant to eat, and the alternative as making us worse. I guess I see the diet as an investment in the quality of my life, not taking away from it. I can understand you wanting to eat out, travel, date, without the inconvenience of the diet, but medication is not without problems either. Either way, the decision is yours, and nobody knows the future. Every one responds differently to different interventions. Whatever you decide, I hope you feel great and can enjoy your life. You won't get " banned " from SCD... it's here if you want to try it at anytime. I think most of us here (especially us " old folks " )would tell you to stay on it, of course, but we were younger once too and know it is hard to not wish for a less restrictive lifestyle. Hope you feel better, PJ 'd be nuts > if you didn't want to.
