Guest guest
I use this (GI prostart) and it is legal. Casei okay? > > I'm planning on making goat yogurt since I have oral thrush and assume it would be a safer choice for me. If that doesn't work out I could try cashew, almond or coconut milk yogurt, although I believe those are all more advanced. I'm taking SCDophilus but would prefer to have some kind of yogurt in my diet. I am able to eat cultured organic butter without any problems. > > Thanks, > > Tamra in Gilroy > FMS, CFIDS, PI-IBS-d > SCD Day 30 > LDN Day 205 >
Guest guest
Sorry Tamra, L. Casei is not SCD legal. I just read it yesterday in Elaine’s book. GERDS and chronic C. SCD 2 yrs Is L. Casei okay in yogurt starter? Guest guest
L Casei is a lactobacillus strain, so now I'm confused. GI prostart is discussed on pecanbread.com too, and I believe others here also use it. So if it is illegal, I hope this is cleared up soon. PJ > > Sorry Tamra, L. Casei is not SCD legal. Guest guest
from the pecanbread site: " 2. Some of the bacteria in the yogurt starters have fairly low, optimum growth ranges. Lactobacillus casei, one of the strains in Progurt, has a low temperature range. Cooling the milk to room temperature before adding this starter will allow the L. casei to do it's part in fermenting the milk into yogurt. " when I look for progurt, all I can find is GI prostart with the three strains... PJ > > > > Sorry Tamra, L. Casei is not SCD legal. Guest guest
I took that as a separate supplement (stand-alone). I thought it was legal. It seemed to help but I lost my source. Is it definitely legal or illegal? Debbie 40 cd > Sorry Tamra, L. Casei is not SCD legal. I just read it yesterday in > Elaine's book.> Where in the book? L. Casei is a form of lactobaccillus. Why would it be illegal? n ______________________________ A funny, touching gift book for cat lovers. Guest guest
Well then why is this on the BTVC website: *** Bifidum and Caseii are not allowed on SCD™. Neither are soil-based organisms, as their effects have not been well researched or documented. Here is the link: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/primal_defense.htm I didn’t make this up!!! GERDS and chronic C. SCD 2 yrs Re: Is L. Casei okay in yogurt starter? Guest guest
You did not make this up , Now what we have here is a discrepancy. I hope this gets cleared up. It could be an error. Guest guest
I know that Elaine's website hasn't been updated in several years. Ian, the webmaster, was quite ill for several years before he died a year or two ago. I'll pass this contradictory statement along to the new webmaster (Elaine's grandson); he hasn't had time to do much updating as yet. It must be something Elaine reconsidered after her comments on Primal Defense. Perhaps when Progurt was first made available. I would expect that the owner and moderators of Pecanbread discussed Progurt with Elaine at some point, and obtained her approval verbally or in writing. If you are concerned about L. Casei, then choose a different legal yogurt starter. Or if your body seems to react to Progurt, then you can try another legal yogurt starter. L. Casei might be something similar to S. Boulardii, some do well and some do not. Kim M.
