Guest guest
My son goes to group therapy 3 times a week and Sunday School once a week. I have been sending with him a snack so he is not left out. So far it has not worked. I have bought every snack item that is GFCF I can find at Whole Foods Market and have made a number or recipes you guys have shared. I have yet to find something he will eat. He has always been pretty good about eating a variety of foods (he likes all vegetables as long as they are cooked) and trying new things. Meals have been pretty easy but he will not eat cookies or crackers without gluten both at home and away. What do you think? Is it a withdrawl thing (2 weeks into the diet), a battle of the wills or have I just not yet found the magical recipe? What do I do? They don't have enough staffing to spoon feed him and if left alone with food, he will smear it all in his hair (he appearantly thinks food is mousse). Guest guest
Kathy, The MaltoMeal Rice Bagged cereals that are gfcf are the chocolate rice and rainbow(yuck!)colored rice cereals. I made the rainbow rice crispie treats and they were too sweet! I will try the chocolate with some soy nut butter next time. Janelle
Guest guest
-Janelle,thanks....its so annoying, you know? You'd think there would be a " normal " gfcf rice cereal since its just rice! Too sweet was the problem with the sweetened rice cereal I used. Let me know what you think of the chocolate but I don't think my daughter would like it as well as regular krispie treats Kathy-- In GFCFKids@y..., cliffybayer@y... wrote: > Kathy, > The MaltoMeal Rice Bagged cereals that are gfcf are the chocolate > rice and rainbow(yuck!)colored rice cereals. Guest guest
My Kelsey LOVES the rainbow Malt-O-MEAL cereal. I also made rice crispie treats with them & thought they were too sweet. When I open a bog of the choc or rainbow I mix a " safe " puffed rice cereal with it. I have done it since the very first time my girls ate either cereal so they don't know any different. This way they are not getting as much sugar. Also, when I make rice crystie treats the recipe calls for 6 cups of cereal. I usually put 2 cups of puffed rice and 4 cups of the choc cereal. Sometimes I also add a few table spoons of peanut butter to the melted marshmellows. I think next time I am going to use 3 cups of puffed rice & 3 of the choc b/c it is still pretty sweet.
