Guest guest
Hi , My son Coby is 28 months old. He has a sacral dimple as well. He has one very deep one at midline and then a very small one just off to the side. He had an MRI done when he was young to make sure that there was no connection between the dimple and the spinal cord. In our case the dimple was not tethered so there was nothing to be done at that time. If it is tethered then they will have to do surgery to cut the connection. I think there is another mother on here that her child had the surgery and everything went wonderfully. Hopefully she will respond. Hang in there, I remember how scared I was while going through this, but everything will be ok. Take care and pls keep us updated. le, mom to: Shye 10, Brock 8, and Coby(rss) & Carlee

Guest guest
Hi Stacey! How are the boys! My daughter Emerence and I sat with you all at Bingo...but my son had the sacral dimple! He eventually had an MRI to determine whethere there was a tether because he wasn't walking (he had severe hypotonia and didn't walk until 26 months). My understanding was that if there was a tether it would be unlikely my son would walk until the tether was cut. So, Christian may not have a tether? Anyway, potty trained late and about 6 months after he trained, he started having accidents - lots of them! My dr. determined it was because he was constipated and he takes Miralax off and on as needed. GOOD LUCK! , mom to , 5 and Emerence 2, SGA, poss mild RSS and dr. appt tomorrow for checkup and weigh in! > > Hello everyone!! Guest guest
Hi , I hope you get to check this before going to your appt. My son Caleb has a sacral dimple, no coccyx (tailbone), and tethered spinal cord that was surgically fixed back in July '03! I'm sorry you are having to go thru this. I know from experience that this is so scary. Please feel free to email me personally. We could even talk in person if you need. The genetesist refered us to a ped neurologist to rule out a tethered cord. Caleb had just turned 3. He wasn't potty trained (partly cuz of my laziness as he is my 3rd boy), has a sacral dimple, scoliosis that had gotten worse since last xray 6 mos earlier, leg limb difference which was also getting worse, his feet had begun hurting when wearing shoes, and had severe constipation (he was sitting down grunting in the dr office, which was normal for him). The neurologist ordered an MRI, which did show the tethered cord. The cord is connected to the bones & as the child grows, it stretches & can cause many problems. That's why the sight was asking about the change in bladder control. Try not to get too scared. The earlier it is caught & fixed, the better. And it doesn't sound like you are seeing too many problems. Typically sacral dimples & tethered cord occurs in spina-bifida kids, so you can get a lot of info from those groups. Caleb is now 4 & doing great! He is potty-trained! (Praise God!) He gets constipated easily, but nothing that we can't handle. His feet don't hurt anymore. The scoliosis has stayed where it was. I hope this helps. Sorry it's so long!
