Guest guest
Great work, I know how hard it is, been doing Medifast for about 3 months now and have lost 34 lbs, buy hey considering I'm on Pred I feel pretty good. How tall are you? Course you are a guy but I have another 90 to lose. I have to be under 200 before they will even evaluate me. Good Luck!Dyane Phoenix ipf 02>> Today, one day before the second anniversary of my diagnosis of IPF, I finally reached the milestone that I have been working toward. At the official weigh-in for my HealthFast class (the physician supervised, liquid diet I am on), I weighed in at 279.0 lbs - 1 lb. BELOW the upper threshhold for my height, set by the Transplant Clinic at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Bottom line...if I am still below that threshhold at my next appt., on Oct. 14th, I will be activated on the transplant list!!> > Not only that, but, I got to add real food back to my diet!!! lol After 4 weeks of liquid shakes only, I had lost 19 pounds. For the past week, I have been allowed one cup of cooked green or wax beans for supper, and I lost 5.9 lbs. Tonight, I got to have some chicken breast and a serving of asparagus. For the next week, I can add chicken breast, turkey breast, fish or shellfish for a protein. I have also been able to add some additional veggies. The plan is to keep losing weight if at all possible, so I can get down to a more reasonable weight - the more weight I can lose before transplant, the more it will help the recovery. But again...the bottom line is that after all this time, I can now see the finish line! Exciting...but scary at the same time...> > A huge thank you to all of my Facebook friends from here on the support group...you have been a great source of support and inspiration as I have worked thru this weight loss thing!!!!!!> > Steve aka...Knip UIP/IPF 9/07 VATS 12/07> 57 Plymouth, NH>
Guest guest
Dyane Medifast works for many I've known. Just be sure to have regular blood work. Many doctors recommend every two weeks, especially watching the liver. Good luck with continuing the program. > > > > Today, one day before the second anniversary of my diagnosis of IPF, I > finally reached the milestone that I have been working toward. Guest guest
Hi Steve, This is great news! Keep up the good work. I’m sorry you didn’t make the symposium both Nan and I were looking for you there. I never got to make my motorcycle ride with my son up to the Kancamagus this year. I was planning on trying to meet with you if we made it up there. It doesn’t look like we will be making the trip this year. I didn’t get up to Bangor to meet with Jack either. It sounds like Jack may be heading down to NC. Let me know if you want to meet again. Guest guest
Dyane, I'm 6'3 " . Somehow I managed to lose 25 lbs. while still on prednisone, and then being weaned off. However, I then hit a plateau in my weight loss because I had done all that I could via diet change and exercise. So finally, my doctor referred me to HealthFast, which sounds like it might be closely related to Medifast. (Do you use HMR shakes?) Since starting that I lost the additional weight needed to get me down to the upper limits. I'll be staying on a modified form of the program now and plan to keep losing, now that I am in the losing mode! Good luck to you...it can be done!!!!!! Guest guest
Steve, Thank you..yes Medifast is alot like that only I started with 5 Medifast meals (shakes and bars 100 cals each) and then one " lean and green " meal. Protein and veggies (about 500-700) cals depending on type of protein so about 1000-1200 a day. I'm sure I could lose faster but I need to be human and I do cheat a small amount (like putting a bun on my hamberger or provelone on my chicken) Could be I have a small CONTROL issue LOL but it goes so I'm happy, Thanks for the update Dyane ipf 02 Phoenix > > > > > > Today, one day before the second anniversary of my diagnosis of IPF, I > > finally reached the milestone that I have been working toward.
