Guest guest
> What exactly are these? Which ones do I need? When do I use them? Loren, I am going to post two documents following this post. One is a run-down on probiotics and one is a parents guide to selecting enzymes. In short, pro-biotics (which means " for life " ) are the " good " bugs in the gut. We want those. Often the " bad " bugs run amuck and so the good ones need to be resupplied for better health. Same as if you don't tend your lawn, it will naturally be overrun with weeds. Enzymes are proteins that have very special functions in the body. They are catalysts. They speed up a reaction, or allow a reaction to take place, and are not used up in the process (for a long time). Your body has thousands of different enzymes that are functioning every second. Digestive enzymes have the specific job of breaking down the food we eat. You need to get the right enzymes for the right foods. A protein enzyme will not break down a starch. You would need amylase for that. Many autistic spectrum people are low in specific enzymes and this contributes to the gut and bowel problems. Yeast and metal toxicity can suppress enzyme function as well. Look for the following two posts. .
