Guest guest
Ian's ten now and not currently on any ADHD medication. We had him on Ritalin first, then went on to Strattera. We took him off of Ritalin because it would wear off and he would be absoulutely nuts when he got off the bus. On Strattera, we didn't see the swings, but we really just didn't know if it was worth having him on meds. In Ian's case, the Ritalin amount was upped several times to continue to see the behavior changes before we switched him to Strattera. So yes, you can see a difference in their behavior on the meds. Do we still have problems with him? Of course. There are days when I could just pull my hair out, but right now we just don't want to have him on any more medicine than we have to. I don't think there's a clear cut answer for every child with ADHD. It's really just a personal choice that you have to make on whether or not you're comfortable having your child on medication.
