-A CPAP is a machine for treating sleep apnea. It is a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine that blows air at a prescribed pressure during sleep. Typically when first diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis you should have some or all of the following procedures/tests;. Blood Gas Test. Full Pulmonary Function Test battery. Sleep Apnea testing. HRCT (High Resolution Cat Scan). 6-minute walk test with and without oxygen. Exercise Tolerance Test (optional). Heart Ultrasound analysis. Barium swallow (check for Gastro Enteritus Reflux Disease-GERD). Broncoscopy. VATS biopsyI have had two pulmo-dudes (doctors) tell me the 3-5 years. Then I talked with my specialist at National Jewish as well as Beth, the moderator of this site. NONE of us have an expiration date stamped anywhere on our bodies. My specialist in Denver said he was impressed at my general good health and saw no reason I may not

live for 10 or more years. He did say I needed to eat a healthy diet and take a pulmonary rehab course (4-6 weeks). I needed to get flu and pneumonia shots as needed and use oxygen as needed (not let sats drop below 88-90). I am in the process of trying to find a doctor who will be there if I have a need to be hospitalized and need a pulmo-dude to monitor oxygen needs and speak on my behalf.Stefani 61 year old UtahnILD 2/2006, NSIP (cellular) 6/2009, UIP 9/2009, Diabetes II 2/2006, Sleep Apnea 4/2009> >>> >>> >> Hi everyone,> >> Just a quick word that there will not be any chat this evening. Stefani

Thanks for this post. I've read it and re-read it. I even printed it out.

This is so encouraging.

I've been so depressed reading about the limited time we have. I need to get over it.

Thanks again
