Guest guest
I don't know this one but years ago I read a similar raw-foods diet. It was pretty much all raw fruits and veggies and some nuts. I remember they said not to worry about getting hungry, just eat a pound of dates if you did. Oh, sure! I know where I'd be spending the next day or two if I did that! Oh goodness. Everything! Have you read the book? He advocates a raw vegan diet, mostly focusing on fruits. So no meat, no cheese, only occasional nuts.
Guest guest
I would never volunarily be on a vegan diet, but I was in effect, for twenty years, when I couldn't handle any animal products whatever. Like Marilyn, I just got sicker over time, but if I tried any I was dreadfully and violently ill for the short term. I can't live on fruits, vegetables and nuts. That was one thing I tried in my 25 years of searching for an answer. All it did was make me sicker.
Guest guest
I am with Marilyn. A restricted (1-2 cups of green veggies only) juice fast of 4 days made my symptoms worse. I then added on 11 more days of a water-only fast, thinking I could accelerate my healing. I am now back on SCD, wondering how long it is going to take me to get back to where I was. I did learn from my 15 days of misery: SCD IS the shortcut.
Guest guest
You do need to be careful with juice (or any other kind of) fasting. It's great it helps some people. But, first you have to be strong enough, in other words, fairly healthy. Second, I doubt this is a good idea if you have blood sugar issues. For SCD types I think this is a bit problematical; I eat fruit but I don't want to imagine what all juice would do to me now. I did a juice fast at the doctor's request, and that was 40 years ago. Even then it was a total wipe-out for me, made me very ill and I caught the cold of the century. And I was starving no matter how much juice I had and how often. At least it didnt' put me in the hospital like Marilyn though I suspect it would now. I'm actually thinking about incorporating a couple days juice fast into each month just because of how amazing it made me feel (lots of energy, sleeping better and happy all the time! woo!)
