Marcia,

There are also inherent risks with the BPD. The DS improved upon the BPD maybe I

am just stupid I am willing to admit that I am not the brightest star in the

sky! But my understanding of the DS is that it improved upon the original

Scopinaro the BPD. So how can someone be contra-indicated for the DS and not the

BPD?

in the DS, not inherent in BPD. She explains ALL options available and if

the patient, the INFORMED patient, then wishes to continue on with the DS, I

haven't heard of her refusing to do it yet. That's the point I've been

trying to make!

I find it incredibly amazing that the very people who got the DS because

they

decided it was right for them don't care that their surgeon doesn't want to

do it anymore. Instead of caring about her future patients so they can have

the same opportunity that YOU had, you ask others not to judge the surgeon

and you still stick up for her. Incredible. And, sorry, but I will judge

when I think a surgeon is wrong.

Its my right to have a choice of the surgery I want. its the right of any

future Ren or patients to have the same choice. But you seem to

think it isn't, and since you already " got yours " it doesn''t matter.

Lizbeth,

Your questions are valid. And I don't feel that anyone who poses such

questions is a jackass or a smartass. All I've been saying is that patients

who have been informed of all the variables of the different procedures have

the right to choose that which supplies their own perceived needs. For

example, I breezed through my lap surgery. Do I have the right to be

judgmental about those who chose to have it done open or lap-assisted. Do I

have the right to denigrate the surgeons who chose to do it differently than

my own surgeon. I should hope not! I made an informed decision about the

procedure I wanted and the method in which it was to be done. Other people

should have the same right. The key words here are INFORMED and PERSONAL

CHOICE. I, too, would turn against any surgeon who didn't fully inform a

perspective patient of all the facts. But from all I have heard, and I spoke

with a Ren pre-op tonight, she is supplying all necessary information on all

procedures. Let's face it, we patients have the ultimate responsibility to

get, process, and make use of all information, and, ultimately, to decide

how we feel we can best live our lives. It's the surgeon's responsibility to

put his/her knowledge, skill and experience to use in implementing our

choice.
