Guest guest
Hi Joyce Rudy,When PF is caused from birds, what is it? Their feathers or feces or what? Is it a certain type of birds? Indoors? I remember my doc asking me if had birds even as a child. I had a parakeet for like 2 years that I kept in my bedroom. Guest guest
Hi , I'm not Joyce, but the answer I got was that it is feathers, dust dander as well as the poop. I also had cockateils in my room as well as living in a small town with a lot of pigeons. This is thought to be the cause of my ph A TN HP PF COPD ASHMA 60 Subject: Re: Birds - PFTo: Breathe-Support Date: Saturday, October 3, 2009, 9:49 AM Hi Joyce Rudy,When PF is caused from birds, what is it? Guest guest
, Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis caused by birds is an exaggerated immune response to specific proteins in bird droppings and feathers. It can also be called "bird breeders lung", "bird fanciers lung", "pigeon breeders lung" etc. It generally happens most often to people who keep birds indoors. HP (hypersensitivity pneumonitis) can be caused by exposure to many things. Birds, mold, chemicals, even bacteria. It all depends on what an individual is sensitive too and whether their immune system is prone to this type of hyper response to an allergen. I've never had a bird and knowing what I know now am very happy I didn't. I even use a mask and gloves now to refill my bird feeders outside. It's just a matter of protecting my lungs from whatever dust is around the feeders outside. Guest guest
It is EVERYTHING about the bird...mostly parrots I believe but my docs have told me to not be around birds....no feathered anything and don't feed the wild birds. They told me it was EVERYTHING about the bird. Joyce Re: Birds - PF Hi Joyce Rudy,When PF is caused from birds, what is it? Their feathers or feces or what? Is it a certain type of birds? Indoors? Guest guest
The birds are gone, the home is gone, We moved out of the house. We gave the birds new homes, I have done everything that I could to remove as much of the allergins as possible. My main problem is my allergies are so extensive that we don't know what will set them off. Ladies perfume, mens cologne, the laundry isle at the grocery who knows. You name it I am allergic to it all except horses and ragweed ( we live in TN with a lot of ragweed). We moved into a NEW apt complex. I don't know what else to do. The hyper. sen. caused the pf, the ashma caused the COPD so I am fighting both types of lung disease. I have found out that due to the back damage from a fall 25 ys ago and the osteoporosis I am not a candidate for a transplant because I could not do exercise to get into shape. But that's OK because God is good and each day a miracle I hope ech and everyone on this board has a blessed day as I am off to work. Guest guest
A... I remember 'back when' you showed what a trooper you were and apparently still are. I know it's hard to give up the house and other things...been there, done that. And you are still working...I suppose at Wal-Mart? Keep on keepin' on dear heart! Guest guest
A....I'm hoping for you that your changes are working out. It's hard to be upended. Moving is hard, giving up 'our place' is hard. Do you like the apt? We are finally settled in our new apt, although there are still little things stacked in chairs on end tables. I force myself to put away or throw away a few things every day. Well, almost every day. Keep on keepin' on . MamaSher; 71, IPF 3-2006, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there!
