Joyce,

Oh my goodness that's one of the things that drives me crazy too. One of these days it will be me flat on my face on the floor. I'm so sorry this happened to you. While you probably are fine, it might be worth a trip to the er to get checked over. Of course you have to weigh the risks of being exposed to lots of sick people in the er. I don't know what to tell you. It's a tough call.

Hope the ibuprofen kicks in and you feel better soon.

i frequently say "if the disease doesn't kill me, the tubes will"

yesterday i fell on the tubes

tripped while walking into my bedroom

went straight down, landed flat on my front

glad it was a carpet with padding to cushion the fall

hurt my arms, but was able to get up right away

didn't feel like anything broke

this morning, i have a bad case of "whiplash" -- like the day after a car accident

upper arms, upper back, neck -- all hurt

took some ibuprofen about 30 minutes ago, still waiting for it to kick in

wondering if i should go to ER or take a hot bath

Oh my.....and what to do now...

Do you have an orthopedic doctor? Or are there orthopedic urgent care

centers in your area that deal with bones and xrays and such but not

sick people? If so, even if it meant waiting until tomorrow, I'd be

scared to go to the ER. Unlike so much of my advice to get there

immediately, this isn't a risk of pneumonia or other illness type thing.

ER's there may not be like the ones here right now, but here they are

wall to wall, lots of coughing kids, mostly fear of H1N1. If you do go

to ER get a respirator mask and gloves. Even if they are just of limited

help, maybe they help some.

Joyce, Think really hard about going to the er.. you have been on prednisone for quite a while. It would not hurt to be checked. Be sure there

isn't any sickies in the waiting room.. maybe your reg. dr can see you. I am so sorry you are hurting.

No sickies in the waiting room? Not sure how one arranges for

that....lol.

Regardless of whether it's ER or a doctor tomorrow, it is important to

at least get checked and xrayed if appropriate. If there is a small

fracture of some sort then they can take the steps to make sure you heal

correctly.

Hi Pink-J,I'm sorry to hear about your fall. I hate it when that happens! I can't believe you got up and went to Art class! Amazing! You may not have broken any bones, but you probably sprained your muscles pretty bad and a sprain can hurt worse than a break. If your neck and shoulders are aching it may be because you tensed up really bad. Sometimes we when we can know we are falling we tense up and that is going to cause you some pain the next day. I almost hate to say go to the ER because your risk of coming into contact with the sickies might be greater than to find out you're just sore. One time I fell flat on my knees out on the gravel road my leg and knee hurt for days, even swelled up, but didn't break. I don't know how long you have been on prednisone

and I know Osteoporsis is a possible side effect, making it easier to break your bones. But I'm thinking if you had broken a bone you would be in severe pain and motrin or hot baths would not be helping. Your call though!Take care....get Jerry to give you a rub-down when he gets home :) C_53_Familial IPF_5/09WashingtonTo: breathe-support Sent: Sat, October 3, 2009 6:33:12 AMSubject: trip

actually i felt better after the fall than i do today == that's why i was able to go to the art class -- it also helped calm me down -- the distraction from the fall while working on the art project

it's 8 pm here and i am starting to feel better -- less achey --

the idea of the tense muscles makes sense and that's what i think is going on

like i need a muscle relaxer -- i don't know if that would mix with all of the other meds that i am on

my nose broke one time -- and i remember how painful it was on impact -- i didn't feel anything like that this time

in the meantime i got through most of today -- didn't do much of anything

if there is no improvement tomorrow -- i will consider going to er --

Ouch Pink Joyce...that sounds like a doozy of a fall.. I do hope you're feeling better by the time you get this.

You know I've had cause to be grateful for my childhood Ballet Classes on more than one occasion...when I trip over something I just try & go into a 'jete' move & then eventually land again just a bit later than I expected to!

I wonder of that's what Cats do!!!!!!

With my 3 stage Progressive Lens Specs this happens quite often...my sense of depth persception is quite poor & also the part of the lens I'm peering thorugh often isn;t quite right for the step I'm about to take!

There's never any warning so I just try & not panic enough to allow my tripping foot to take flight along with the rest of me! Of course the rest of me has to decide to stay elegantly UPRIGHT..Arched even, with beautiful soft Ballet arms....just KIDDING!

SGIO

Newbies...don' t wurrie..this is just in Oz (GIO) being Scilly (SGIO)!
