Guest guest
I thank God for the three of you. OK--so maybe the expression is maudlin. Still, your posts have helped me so much. brought me to this point thanks to her old posts on AMOS; has helped educate me about the medical and insurance procedures; Nick's posts have increased my perspective and confidence about my choices. Many thanks to all three of you! Ready for a question? What supplement regimens have you three chosen to follow? Best regards,

Guest guest
Hi - Thanks for the compliment! I didn't make the choice of supplements. Dr. Keshishian suggests a good multivitamin like Centrum (which I take) and 1500 mg. of calcium per day. He said Tums were just fine and that's what I use. He said that he had done some work to determine whether calcium carbonate or calcium citrate was a better supplement and that the result was that they were the same. Best- Nick in Sage (whose head is now somewhat swollen)
Guest guest
Hi Judie- Pre op I took Tums by the handful for gastritis. I asked my PCP if that would cause me any problems. He laughed and said that there wouldn't be any ill effects other than kidney stones. That's when I started taking Prevacid. Guest guest
Fortunately, it only costs me $10.00 for 3 months of Prevacid because I have insurance that covers it. I had no idea that it was so expensive. I wonder how long I'll have to take it as my wife's coverage won't cover me after she retires next year. Ouch! Best- Nick Re: Nick, , Hull > Oh man, Nick! Guest guest
Yeah Nick....its very expensive but only until the patent runs out! you know how the drug companies are! You will probably only need to take it for 6-8 weeks and thats it. Mike was on it for 6 weeks. I didnt need it. Medicare does not cover any meds! Guest guest
> Ready for a question? What supplement regimens have you three chosen > to follow? , I take the following: After breakfast: 2 Citracal +D Midday (preferably on an empty stomach): one Natalcare PIC Forte (generic for Niferex PN Forte) After dinner: 2 Citracal +D Dr. Rabkin wants his patients to consume 1800mg calcium per day. Between the 4 citracal +D and the prenatal, I get around 1500mg, and when I add the dairy foods that I eat every day, I'm sure I meet or exceed that requirement. I have never needed more than the one multivitamin/mineral tablet. So far, my bloodwork has been excellent with this regimen. However, everyone is different! Other patients of Dr. Rabkin who had the same procedure have had to tweak their regimen, adding more of this or that, depending on the bloodwork, in order to get all their levels good. That's why it's so important to get the regular labs in order so the docs can optimize our regimen for our own individual needs.
