Guest guest
I buy the liquid version. I don't think it has any illegals. I'm pretty sure the little packets do have an anti caking agent in them. http://www.sweetnlow.com/liquid.html I buy it at my local mom and pop grocery store. The Wal Marts in my area don't carry it. Guest guest
Um, I wouldn't eat saccharin. It's not really a food in the general sense.... it was originally derived from coal tar. They have been backing and forthing about it for over a hundred years, I don't really know everything that's been going on with that. But just checking in on the wiki article on it, looks like most of the evidence against it's ban was that the bladder cancer it caused in rats could be explained from something else, but then the article ends with the lovely note that " Saccharin has, however, also been linked to thyroid cancer in mice " I never use sweeteners. I gave them up years ago. I don't miss them at all, ever. I've gotten completely used to it. In my later stages when I would bake I would use fruit juice as a substitue for sweeteners. I don't miss that either Best, I'm sensitive to honey, so I'm looking to purchase Saccharin. I've heard mixed things about Sweetnlow. Is it legal? and is there a place I can purchase it in bulk? Thanks! Mark
Guest guest
" it's very helpful for people who want something sweet, yet can't tolerate a lot of fruit or honey. " I'm interested in this, I don't seem to be tolerating even small amounts of honey, and I wonder if Saccharin would be a decent short term alternative. Do you know why it is that Saccharin is sometimes easier for us to deal with? Elaine doesn't really talk about it in BTVC and the knowledge base doesn't talk about it either. Just curious. ~CD, SCD 02/21/2010On Fri, Apr 16, 2010 at 8:11 AM, Wizop Marilyn L. Elaine considered saccharin to be as safe as any food -- and safer than grains. I don't use it, myself, but it's very helpful for people who want something sweet, yet can't tolerate a lot of fruit or honey. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle

Saccharin tastes sweet but is non-nutritive, so there's not much for the bad bugs to chew on, like there is with sugar. I don't like non-nutritive sweeteners, myself, but some people, after they get used to them, actually like them better than sugar or HFCS. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
