Guest guest
Hi Jodie, Well, isn't that special -- NOT! Leave it to our wonderful government to find a way to let down the people who need the most help, our kids. If makes you feeel any better, this has me pretty steamed. Like where are you supposed to get the money. I hope there is some sort of appeal you can file. I hope you work this out in your favor. Guest guest
Jodie...... What SSI/SSA is bad, not at all good. It is their mess up. I had to go to my SSA/SSI Lawyer today and asked him what he would suggest. He said to contact a SSI lawyer, because if you already have the SSI for your child then your child should be kept on it, but you may have to have a legal rep. Guest guest
Unfortunately, a similar thing happened to a friend. Her husband had a brain tumor 10 years ago (I think at 11.5 years out he is the longest survivor of this type of tumor) but anyway, their taxes got attached last year and they were told they owed 40,000! And had 2 weeks to pay it! They had received disability or SSI for him b/c he was too sick to work. Then they tried to return the checks as he got better,e ven got a lawyer and the checks kept coming. They finally closed the bank account so no more $ would be deposited and then that! They finally won an appeal after 6 months and with a sympathetic woman. Guest guest
Jodie Well keep your chin up. Iam sure everything will work out. Should I even try for SSI? Re: losing SSI benefits hey jamie!! no because they go by your gross income, not the fact that they take taxes out and we pay over $65 a week for health insurance or the money my hubby puts into his 401k so we have something later on in life to live off of. if they went by what you take home then we would be fine. plus i only work from sept-june and only when there is school. i am an afternoon crossing guard, i work 45mins a day when there is school or when i dont have to take christopher to an appt. we'll manage some how we always do!!! if it wasnt for bad luck we would have no luck at all!!!! LOL!! jodie c.
