My son with autism has been experiencing pain when

urinating we finally seen the urologist yesterday and

he is having a test done called a V.C.U.G. where they

will squirt a liquid up into my GFCF child and take

pictures to see how his urinary track is working.

Does anyone know if this liquid is G.F.C.F.or not?

The hospital won't tell us and they won't tell us the

name either any help will be appreciated. if they

don't let us know or let us see the ingredients we

will not let this be done.

I think you should absolutely demand to know what the ingredients are. It is

your child after all and you have every right to know!!...I would explain this

to them and inform them you will go elsewhere if they are not more cooperative

and helpful. Situations like this make me very angry as I remember all the

doctors who told us we didn't know what we were talking about and seemed to

think we were psycho's...It shouldn't be this way. All we have to go through,

we shouldn't have to fight the doctors as well. GRRR...LOL...Good Luck,

I missed the OP, but was supposed to have a sedated ABR test

yesterday.. I phoned to check GFCF status of the chloral hydrate and the

adhesive for the brainstem wires and they had no trouble phoning the

pharmacy and having them check for me. I don't see why they can't do that

for you.

I wish I knew off hand if they were or not, I used to be a xray tech and did

VCUGs on kids (among other things). Perhaps asking for the head of radiology

would help? Or perhaps this is an instance where '911 allergic' might give

them the nudge they require?

Good luck

At the risk of taking an unpopular stand, I must say I think you should

reconsider your position. Your child is in pain and needs to have some

relief. Who's to say the pain does not indicate a serious problem? My son

has been on a strict GFCF diet for four years this month, but if I were in

your shoes, I would do this procedure in a heartbeat. I don't want to

offend you as I know this must be a difficult time for you.

Good luck to you and your son.

I have to say I agree with this....It makes me angry when doctors won't help

with gfcf needs of their patients. But, if something serious is going on, it

may well be worth the risk. I had replied to this e-mail a few days ago and said

I would take him somewhere else, but..if he is experiencing pain I would

probably go ahead with it....Another doctor may not be any more compliant

anyway....Good Luck and let us know how it goes...
