Hi Ken

thats good news overall regarding . Regarding IEP vs 504, I am

not well versed in these rules and guidelines yet as my daugher is

only 2.She gets PT and OT through ECI, had major gross motor delays

but doing nicely now, and we always assumed from talking to ECI that

she would transition to school district services when she turned 3.

Now our service coordinator warned me that she may not qualify.

Because president Bush no child left behind the school district is

moving away from providing special ed. services for kids with some

physical limitation unless they have mental retardation or major

disability etc. Part of the rationale is good, which is in the old

days physical disabilities including short stature, were always

associated with some form of mental delay. SO my daugher while she

still needs OT for feeding, school district will not see feeding

issues as needing special ed. And since she is not delayed in speech

and cognition she wont qualify under those area either. They said now

the school districts are really pusing to move more kids from IEP to

504.
