Guest guest
Hi Kelsi!! I know the feeling, I love in the middle of nowhere and it is a two hour drive to our ortho, without traffic!! With my daughter, the first couple weeks she was in the helmet we noticed sliding and wobbling, but then her head started to change and we didn't see anymore shifting. My daughter has been in her helmet almost ten months and we have never had to have more padding added... We have however had to make weekly trips to see the ortho. My daughter is 17 months and has been very active since day one and we never seen too much shifting in her helmet. I wish you the best of luck!! Candy > > Hi! > > My daughter (almost 11 months old) has had her starband helmet for 5 weeks now. I really like her orthotist. He really takes his time and makes sure her helmet fits her the best it can. It started off fitting really well, then become too loose at about week 3 and would slide down over her eyebrows(especially when she slept) so i went back and had him put a little extra padding on the base of the neck and that did the trick for a few days then it started to slide to the side and started to rub a little raw spot on her ear. > > Her head has drastically improved so I was thinking maybe the ear holes are no longer in the correct spot. Maybe she needs a new helmet made? We did the rescan today and he shaved a little more out for growing room and the helmet became even more loose. So now it slides forward and to the side over her ear. He trimmed it a little so it hopefully wont irritate her ear so much but He said that because my little girl was so active the helmet is just going to slide around a little bit and there is nothing more he can do. > > I just wanted to know if any of you had this problem and if there was a good solution to it. It makes me feel so bad for putting her through this, but her head is responding so well to it and we only have 2-3 more months of this left. > > please give me your opinions! > > thanks a mil! > > Kelsi > > PS we live out in the middle of nowhere and it takes us 3 hours (that's without any traffic) to drive to the orthotics office. driving down there is such a pain. >
Guest guest
Thank you! I guess I was just getting a little too worried. The past few days have been a lot better than I expected. I have to mess with it and adjust it throughout the day but it doesn't seem to bother her too much and the spot on her ear is looking a lot better since her orthotist made the ear hole a little bigger. I'm always so worried about my little one; I'll be so happy when all this is over! Kelsi > > > > Hi! > > > > My daughter (almost 11 months old) has had her starband helmet for 5 weeks now.
