I too have a family history of diabetes and needed to lose weight right around my middle. Right before I started SCD I lost 50 pounds by cutting out sugar and grains. That helped with weight loss, but not with gut problems! Since I have been on the SCD I no longer have the frequent D. problems. So I am much much better. I still need to lose about 20 pounds and noticed that through the winter when I was eating the delicious honey/almond flour stuff I didn't lose an ounce. Of course, I find it impossible to eat just one muffin or cookie! Now this spring I have cut out the honey and nut flour and am again slowly losing. I still eat the whole milk yogurt, butter and cheese. Also squash and and berries. I have noticed most people on SCD have trouble gaining weight. I am looking forward to losing the remaining weight I need to and getting my nut flour goodies back! Hope this helps. Terri S. Guest guest
I have to really watch it. If I ate as much nut butter, honey, or the SCD nut flour goodies, I would be bigger than I want to be On the happy side, it means the gut is working. A year ago everything went through me. I was never able to eat all I wanted and not gain. Seems I've been watching it all my life, PJ > > " My first thought was that in eliminating all grain and refined sugar, there is no way I would not lose weight too. Guest guest
oh gosh...maybe SCD food is just too yummy. Some of the recipes are amazing. Maybe it's because we are becoming great cooks..... > > > > Seriously? You guys all have problems gaining weight on the diet? That's so lucky! I just keep gaining weight. Guest guest
Holly,"I outgrew almost all my shorts from last year, and invested in all new ones this spring. Then I promptly lost 5 pounds, and everything is now to big. UGH!"You may think that is a negative, but I think it is a positive. You now have a fat and skinny shorts wardrobe! You are now set to go no matter how you wake up feeling! ; )AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Thu, May 6, 2010 7:30:57 AMSubject: Re: New to diet...questions about weight loss I outgrew almost all my shorts from last year, and invested in all new ones this spring. My mom sneakily stowed away my skinny clothes this time though. Yeah mom!
