You've got one heck of a good Padre. next time you see him, tell him

please what this non-believer said.

Thanks, .

You're more than right. Personal conscience comes into play here in

a BIG way, and I guess that's what's throwing me off. And, it's not

like I can't make a decision on my own; you've read enough from me to

know that I have an independent mind and voice! I just wish that

there were some kind of precedent for me to examine.

We have a lot of doctors, nurses, etc. that go to our Orthodox

mission (hospital's the main employer in this college town), so my

priest has had this kind of stuff on the brain: what is the role of

medicine/healing/physicians in the church, etc.

Anyway, I'm glad to have this " third option " to follow, because the

countdown to surgery is ON: 15 days to go! I'm really starting to

freak out, and my way of showing it is to be " anal " about organizing

and preparing for the big day.

Think you can remember some of those old Catholic prayers of yours

and say a couple for me? I'm so scared of something going wrong.

Love,

Hey, Steve.

Since your post didn't end with " Did you hear the one about the

Priest and the Rabbi? " I'll assume that you're being genuine! :}

Thanks for your comment; I think he's a keeper.

Best,

I'll save my Orthodox jokes for your recovery (this will give me a

few weeks to find some...).

From time-to time, I am quite serious in my postings. But ALWAYS

genuine, even in jest.

Yup.

You ARE doing the right and moral thing. In Jewish law, " Saving of a

Life " supersedes just about any other rule (such as dietary rules,

working on the Sabbath--as a physician would do). You will be saving

your life with this surgery. Literally.

Good fortune,

Steve

,

You're probably right. *grin* Besides, I *think* the advice came

from a Catholic priest. And Catholicism is about as close to

Paganism as Christianity gets. (No offense intended here.

Catholicism was *designed* to be similar to many Pagan rituals so

that the ancient Christians would find it easier to convert the

Pagans.)

I will be praying for you daily! My surgery is on November 19th, the

day before yours. I have to tell you, since I started this adventure

in June, every single day, and every single roadblock seemed like a

blessing that would keep me from this scary surgery. For some odd

reason, when I met my surgeon, Dr. Gregg Jossart, all that " heart "

fear just went away! I found a center of peace and knew that this

surgery was the right thing for me. I still suffer the pangs of that

little voice in my head that says I am not " that fat " , or, I could

try just " one more diet " , but my heart is absolutly at peace.

I know you will find that space also, I am sure of it. This is the

time when the holy spirit is so critical for me. Even that old adage

of Alcoholics Anonymous...let go, let God, really helps. This is one

of those things that is so much bigger than ourselves. Give this one

to God, he/ She (snicker) will never set you on the wrong path.

If I can lend a shoulder, anytime, I'm here for you!

Hugs and understanding,

Theresa

P.S. When I get nervous, my sense of organization goes straight into

the toilet! If you are a list maker, could you please share with

me?

P.S.S. Buy stock in Pepto Bismol. I have been living on it for a

week now cuz of nerves! Laughing
