that's the white yogurt. The "water" is called water of hydrolysis I believe? I might be wrong. Basically, the liquid part is the whey (without the lactose). So, I guess if you really wanted to have a good protein shake you could drink the water although that would totally defeat the purpose of dripping the yogurt in the first place. Especially since the point of dripping it is so that you tolerate it better by removing the sugar (which is the water that comes off). That's how I understand it anyway, someone can correct me if i'm wrong.-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 11 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Colazol - 9 pills a day Prednisone 25mg entocort With vit E mixed inBack to intro/stage 1 for now.To: btvc-scd From: earthymom88@...Date: Sun, 9 May 2010 07:01:28 -0700Subject: Hi, Protein Powder question-dripped yogurt?

The dripped yogurt is largely cassein. The yogurt drippings by themselves

are not recommended.

Please note that if one reacts to cow milk products, one can sometimes

tolerate goat, sheep, or even camel products, provided they have been

properly fermented into yogurt, cheese, or butter.

Marilyn,

Dripping does not get rid of casein from my understanding.

If in fact it does can you point me in the direction to read about this? What

about Beta Casein?

Jodi,

No, dripping yogurt does not get rid of the casein.

I know zilch about beta casein, except that I remember that there are a

couple of types.

http://www.betacasein.org/index.php/pi_pageid/90

looks like a good place to start. (And before anyone panics about not

having A2 milk, remember that many thousands have gotten well with yogurt

from ordinary cows.)
