Please let us know when you feel up to it what is going on and what the docs are doing about it. Nan even if you feel isolated, please know that we are here rooting for you. You have a whole pack of folks here who care about you! Beth Moderator Fibrotic NSIP 06/06 Dermatomyositis 11/08 To: Breathe-Support Sent: Mon, October 26, 2009 9:06:18 PMSubject: Oh No!! The big house Hi All My dear friends,I started with some very tough breathing last week. Of course, once again, I'm thinking that I know it all and don't need to contact the doc. (big mistake!) By Weds. night when the kids got to me, I was really bad. My son insisted that I at least call the doc. I choose a trip to the big house to get checked out. It was somewhat late at that time. Chest x-rays and meds.... decision was made to keep me. Am I rambling here? Many meds and maybe a wee bit confused! hehe I miss everyone so much and am feeling a bit isolated in here. I did find out though the the hosp. is all WiFi access now. I think I might take some christmas savings and invest in maybe a small laptop. I think that would realieve some isolatation. Guest guest
Nan, so sorry to hear you are in the " Big House " . Take good care of you so you can get out of there. Sometimes I wished that I had a laptop so that I could take it everywhere I go BUT I wouldn't be able to carry it with the Helios LOL! It was a good thought. Get better soon. Guest guest
last August I spent 4 days in the hosptal, I had fainting spells, the doctors coulndt figure out what was wrong with me. Finally they got to the conclusion that my PH is getting worse. I was so lonely in that room, I missed my family more than ever. here in USA my only family are my two little sons and my husband, the rest of my family is in Mexico. I have some good friends but they also have things to do, so I didnt get many visits. Subject: Oh No!! Guest guest
When I had my VATS biopsy I had my Ipod Touch with me. It was a god-send. I had games and relaxers on it as well as access to my email. I get the " big book " in my email and would read them all. It was really handy at night when I would wake up and the nurses would be busy doing what they do and I could just read/write emails instead of bothering them. I have an application called 'relax' that displays a roaring fire, an afternoon/night at the beach with the waves lapping up on shore, or the winter wonderland vista with snowflakes falling on a night of pristine white coated woods. I could call up the Koi Pond to play with the fish too. I also get the New York Times and USA Today (and something called Fluent News that is a collection of articles published from all over daily) which are downloadable through WIFI. There are also the games, Scrabble, Monopoly, Cribbage. . . I really liked it for emailing my family while they were at work. I have a son in Iowa as well and it was easier than a phone call. Really takes the edge off a stay at the big house (and less than $500 including all of those applications through Itunes to boot). I like the Ipod Touch because I use it while waiting at the doctor's office as well. Having WIFI access is great, and I just plug it in when it needs charging. Not all doctor's offices have WIFI, but if you load up before you leave home (a WIFI area), you never notice it. Lots of options, a laptop works too. Main thing is to get well soon!! Guest guest
Hi Nan, Sorry to hear you are down. It can sure come on fast, right? The feeling that it will be better tomorrow, tonight or in one more hour gets us all at some time or another. You sure aren't alone in thinking you " know it all " and can figure out how to avoid the system one more day. Many, if not most, of us do that at one time or another. Hang in there and keep us posted on your progress. ann > > > Subject: Oh No!!
