Guest guest
Hello All, I am one of the recent approvals. MVP Insurance (hmo) in Upstate NY. This question is about hiring a companion to help me in the hospital. My family can not make the trip, but there love and support is with me. We don't have much money, but I have read that a companion is a wise hire. Does anyone have suggestions as to when they are the most useful. Morning / Afternoon / Evening? Do you get to pick the time or do they just show up whenever? I've heard you can hire them for as little as 4 hours to help you out. What is everyone's suggestion or experience. (I don't want to hire one for 4 hours and then be asleep the whole time she is there!) I'm having surgery the day before Thanksgiving, so I'm wondering just how well Mt Sinai will be staffed for the Holiday. I don't want to piss off the nurses with my requests, I don't expect them to haul me out to see the Parade, but I don't want to suffer needlessly the first day out, either. Will I even be able to get a companion to show up on Thanksgiving? Someone is going to have to help me eat my turkey! ;-) (in my dreams!) All suggestions welcome, Peg Galloup BMI 53 Dr.Pomp Mt Sinai BPD/DS 11/21/01 Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself.
