Hi ,

I was shocked to read in your post that Arimidex doesn't stop

adrenarche. has been on Aromasin (according to Dr. H this is

stronger than Arimidex) for almost 1.5 years now, though he has been in

adrenarche since age 3.5 years old. He continues to have the body

odor, pimples, etc., & I have always wondered if the Aromasin is

working. He has also been on Lupron for 2.5 years. His bone age

continues to advance with poor growth despite maximal doses of GH and

labwork that is indicative that he is still in puberty. I have lots of

concerns for him, and am anxious to see Dr. H at the convention.

Kim C.

I have learned from Dr. H that the Arimidex that she is on won't

STOP adrenarche, so the body odor and pimples keep going. It just

specifically halts the conversion of the adrogens into estrogen, and

hopefully will then halt her rapid progression of her bone age.

Aromitase inhibitors " selectively " block only estrogen -- the

conversion of the androgens to estrogen (the rest of the androgens

remain). Testosterone in teenage boys continues to be produced, etc.

Lupron suppresses ALL of the pubertal hormones. Lupron and Zolodex

actually " halt " puberty. Aromitase inhibitors only halt the

production of estrogen, in an effort by physicians to slow or stop

the progression of a rapidly advancing bone age. Puberty would

still occur.

If you are trying to maximize a child's height, and they are already

in gonadarche (breast buds or increased testicular volume), an A.R.

would not help in that case -- you would need Lupron or Zolodex.

Did this help? Jenn
