Guest guest
Hey guys, having a rough menstrual situation right now, unusual for me but not unexpected considering changes body going through lately.not sure what to do about pain - I would take 3 extra strength tylenol. If you've done that or the equivalent and it is not working, and this is out of the ordinary for you, I'd call my gynecologist about wanting stronger pills. back in the day if I had trouble, I would eat lots of carbs like a big plate of speghetti. not sure what to do - stomach doesn't want pureed carrots right now, I had a whole bowl of string beans about 1/2 hour ago. don't think i can handle the zucchini at the moment either. can't even get myself to cook some anyways. been sipping juice - now feel like throwing up, from menstrual pain. How about some ginger tea - just fresh ginger and hot water or ginger soaked with some other tea to help settle your stomach. Or some pepto bismal, the original bottled one, whichis legal, and helps with nausea. Or both. spending a lot of time having to lie down in fetal position on bed, unable to stand up for long periods of time. not doing well :(I hope you feel better soon. tried some black currant seed oil, helped a little. I had some rough pms too this time, am sure that malnourishment is affecting me - stuck in stage 1, and not having enough time to cook enough food. malnourished and often go hungry. often buy food and bring it home, unable to cook it before it goes bad :(You need a crock pot to be able to make more broth - which takes no energy at whatever time ofday that is. Just throw things in and do nothing more but go away. (I have one which I am looking togive away as I have another one ordered - the old one works fine, just doesn't have some of the morefancy settings - but if you need one in a pinch, it will do. Or get one from amazon - that way youdon't need the physical energy to go out and shop.) Or have a whole lot of hard boiled eggs on hand - that way you can just pop one in yourmouth when you need protein. now that I'm in this mess, any ways out? Thanks alot!! Guest guest
Heya , You ever have your sex hormones checked and complete thyroid panel? I suffered with terrible and debilitating PMS for years. What about a pain killer? Maybe you should just take a tylenol if you can't get a pain killer? Epsom salt baths are super soothing. I am so sorry you are experiencing this. You'll get through it though- hard to believe when you're right in the midst of it! I know! How are you with a burger patty just to get some protein in you? Guest guest
You may want to try Borage seed oil instead of black current since it has way more GLA's in it. How are you with fish oil omegas? You may want to do a fatty acid test to see which ones your body requires. Helped me so much with my PMS. Guest guest
Thank you. I found the spit test and will try it tomorrow morning. If there's anything I've learned from this colitis experience, it's that there are so many other supportive people out there with whom we can talk about our BMs. Sometimes after a day of SCD research or reading forums, I have to be careful about being tactful in public! :oD W. Guest guest
I usually have extremely painful periods (both from the cramping and the interaction with my UC). I don't know that this will help right now but one month I noticed that for 3 days before my period all I was craving was peanuts, fruit and cheese. I decided to succumb to that craving and that month I had virtually no pain and very little UC reaction. I think for me it's a potassium deficiency so perhaps something like a multivitamin or eating more bananas will help? I usually have to bite the bullet and take extra-strength tylenol unfortunately (ha! I'm no good at taking a multivitamin regularly) and keep a heating pad on my abdomen. I'm sorry you feel so bad! I hope it gets better really soon! Guest guest
A low-carb diet helps me immensely with PMS! I believe my pain to be the result of candida flares that start a few days before I do! > > Hey guys, > > having a rough menstrual situation right now, unusual for me but not > unexpected considering changes body going through lately. > > not sure what to do about pain - back in the day if I had trouble, I would > eat lots of carbs like a big plate of speghetti. not sure what to do - > stomach doesn't want pureed carrots right now, I had a whole bowl of string > beans about 1/2 hour ago. don't think i can handle the zucchini at the > moment either. can't even get myself to cook some anyways. been sipping > juice - now feel like throwing up, from menstrual pain. > > spending a lot of time having to lie down in fetal position on bed, unable > to stand up for long periods of time. not doing well > > tried some black currant seed oil, helped a little. Guest guest
Hi , I'm sure you've got lots of good advice from everyone else but I thought I'd chime in since your situation sounds very similar to mine a couple months ago. I was stuck eating meat, eggs, olive oil for cooking, salt, avocados, zucchini, blueberry juice and cooked pears and that was all. No honey, no nothing else. I was trying to do the yeast elimination since I had thrush due to being on prednisone, as well as stick to the " add only one thing at a time and only if it causes no extra problems " technique. After a while, things got worse, D came back, bleeding got worse (I have UC), and I was losing about a pound a day. My menstrual symtpoms during the time I was using this technique on the diet were terrible. For about two weeks my pain was really really bad, I had no energy to cook my food, which also led to losing weight, and my cramps would cause the rest of my insides to get inflamed too, at least that's what it felt like. Finally I had to stop being 100% strict on the diet, and I ate oatmeal and flax seed muffins to slow everything down in there, which helped tremendously. I added butter, turkey bought at a deli (with just legals plus sugar sometimes), and a larger variety of foods while going up of prednisone. My nervous system could just not handle the stress of starvation along with the other stresses it was reacting to. Once things calmed down, my body did not want the oatmeal or muffins anymore. Or any grains. Or sweet potatoes. Pretty much went back to all legal except the sugar in the deli turkey sometimes. I am now on prednisone, other natural anti-inflamatories (turmeric extract taken away from meals in large doses does wonders! My feet and legs had large swollen lumps from spreading inflamation that have definitely been helped by it), and I'm doing acupuncture. I am sharing all this because it sounds like you are trying really hard to do this diet all the way, and it can, in my experience, cause more suffering sometimes. I feel like my body needs time to heal, time to adjust, and definitely needs meds right now. And that's OK. I am not here to prove anything, just to get better, but I had to learn that the hard way. On the note of things that can help right now with the cramps, if you can find it, I use cramp bark tea. It works overnight for me. Every time. I stopped using it on the diet because it is made from bark until I was in so much pain I just had to, and if worked then too. I had to find it at this tea/herb store that sold bulk teas. I also use valerian root every night to relax my muscles. Have been for years. I didn't realize it was because my body was chronically inflamed, but now that I know, I still use it. Chamomile tea seems to help me too. I hope you feel better soon. This diet, and just healing from this kind of pain can take a long time and be very difficult. If you want to know anymore about the other herbs and things I have tried please email me.
