yes, marcia, I can see how that would help. But, if you had a choice would you take the stairs or an elevator? My docs say you should always walkand not use carts in the store and the people at the Pendleton Center praise me for always using the stairs..after my altercation with the incline and the stairs I don't want to take the stairs any more but feel guilty and In our Super Walmart I have to go all the way to the back to pick up something I bought off line and I want to use the Cart.The place is sooo large...It is so big I can barely do it leaning on a regular cart. If you get in a situatition where you must do stairs. In rehab, we were told to decide which is our stronger leg. Step up with that leg and exhale as you do so, bring the other leg up, but lead off on all steps with the stronger leg. do the remaining steps the same way exhaling and leading with the same leg. Not alternating legs. On the 4th step stop, and exhale and take a rest for a second or so. And Go SLOW. I usually take a slight stop on each step. It does help. Marcia
