Guest guest
Gale that compares with a lot of us, probably most of us sitting without o2, i can be in the high 90's as soon as i start moving it drops on the treadmill, i use continuous o2 at 4 lpm the weird part of this disease is that some of us can sit without any supplemental o2, but start moving and down it goes Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Mild PFTo: Breathe-Support Date: Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 9:16 PM Is anyone PF in the mild stage? Guest guest
i use o2 for exertion and sleep sometimes when not using it, if i cough a lot, the o2 helps settle down the cough Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: Mild PFTo: Breathe-Support Date: Thursday, November 19, 2009, 1:40 AM Hi Gale,I am not on O2 yet. Guest guest
Gale fatigue is probably one of the symptoms many of us tire easily one of the tips is the 15 minute rule do something for 15 minutes, take a rest break, then go back to it Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: Mild PFTo: Breathe-Support Date: Thursday, November 19, 2009, 7:18 AM ljnester, Jerry, Kathy, How is your energy level? Guest guest
Gale,I use the 15 minute rule for doing tasks. Work for 15 minutes, then take a rest. It takes longer to get things done, but it works. I nap when I get tired. There are things I can't do, but most of the time (so far) I can still do a lot. How is your energy level? What do you do when you're tired or fatigued.?Kathy From: Gale More <gale.more (AT) yahoo (DOT) com>Subject: Mild PFTo: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. comDate: Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 6:16 PM Is anyone PF in the mild stage? Guest guest
Yes Gale, I do deal with fatigue, though I have learned that keeping on a steady pace rather than sudden heavy exertion keeps me feeling fairly well. As I may have written, I can walk many miles at a slow to moderate rate on my treadmill, but any incline will tire me out very easily and quickly. Also I lost 50 pounds in the beginning, which helped with my oxygen need. I feel that I can live this way for a while. I gave up gardening this spring, as it tired me out, and also the dust probably wasn't good for my lungs. Last year I was able to bicycle 80 miles one Saturday.. So in my experience, you can still do a lot if you can pace yourself through the day, eating right and resting after exertion. I don't think I could put i full day'work now. Ohes, I do cough a lot, and I hato get off the treadmill or stop what I doing. Jerry/MississippiIPF/dx April 05Who believes that hard times help us appreciate the good times even more. Guest guest
Kthy, Therein lies my problem. I am employed and must keep going. Unfortunately, keeping my job has become my major acitivty and is socially isolating because I spend most of the other time at home resting. Guest guest
Gale, My energy level is not bad some times I get tired and take a nap in the afternoon. But this I subscribe to just getting older I an 60. If I do exert my self I do find I want to rest a wile. But most of the time I just hum along fine. I consider I am doing fine. Guest guest
Boy, this sounds like me. I was able to work until September but since then have been home. I now use what little energy I have for family and home. I work a little, then rest, then work a little on good days. On bad days, this may be too much. My doctors seem to have trouble understanding since my sats are OK when I'm sitting still. > > > > > >>From: Gale More <gale.more (AT) yahoo (DOT) com> > >>Subject: Mild PF > >>To: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. com > >>Date: Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 6:16 PM > >> > >> > >> > >>Is anyone PF in the mild stage? If so, what symptoms are you having. My 02 runs from 94-97 going lower when I have physical activity. Does that compare with anyone? > >> > > > > >

Guest guest
that's why you need pulmonary docs who specialize in ILD's sitting still, the SAT's are usually good, start moving around and see how quickly they drop the first time i went to a pulmonary doc he told me to walk up a flight of stairs and he noted that the o2 was low and the pulse was high that was the first time we leaned that, even before the diagnosis maybe it gave him direction as to what to test for, by the 3rd or 4th visit, we had the diagnosis so tell you doc to take a sat while sitting, and then to take one after you walk around a bit, he will see the difference Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: Re: Mild PFTo: Breathe-Support Date: Saturday, November 21, 2009, 10:22 PM I do understand.
